The Ribbon - Detroit, MI
An urban infill and rehab project on Detroit's eastside.
The East Warren Commercial Corridor will be adding a new development to its streetscape in 2024. Our expectation is that this impactful project will ‘infuz’ energy into the East Warren community and spur further growth. This mixed-use project will retain a commercial element on the ground floor with 5600 SF tenant space intended for a cafe/market and a day spa. A second and third story addition will provide 18 units, the majority of which will be available for those at 50-80% Average Median Income (AMI). An exterior plaza provides amenity space for both uses and directly addresses community input and needs.
Strategy: The Facade design pays homage to the 1960s, when Detroit was known worldwide for its music culture, and is influenced by the Mid-century era. The composition of a series of horizontal awnings, balconies, and vertical fins accentuates the Ribbon concept and its name.
