The Ribbon - Detroit, MI

Urban Infill and Rehabilitation Project on Detroit’s Eastside – Completed 2024

The East Warren Commercial Corridor is set to welcome a transformative urban infill and rehab project in 2024, designed to revitalize the area and energize the East Warren community. This impactful mixed-use development aims to foster growth, provide essential amenities, and offer accessible housing options.

Key Features of the Project

  • Ground Floor Commercial Space:

    • 5,600 square feet of space designed for a café/market and a day spa, bringing vibrancy and convenience to the neighborhood.

  • Affordable Housing Units:

    • The second and third floors will feature 18 residential units, with a majority reserved for residents earning 50-80% of the Average Median Income (AMI).

  • Community-Focused Design:

    • An exterior plaza offers a welcoming amenity space tailored to meet community needs and feedback.

Mid-Century Design Influence

Paying homage to Detroit’s rich music culture of the 1960s, the facade features elements inspired by the Mid-century modern era. The design incorporates horizontal awnings, balconies, and vertical fins to create a unique "Ribbon" concept, blending nostalgia with modern aesthetics.
